Social Media
Before I took a class called Public Relations Style and Design, I was surrounded by social media but had never immersed myself in it, because I did not realize the ways that it could be beneficial. Not only did I get involved once I discovered the tremendous networking potential, but I also encouraged others to do the same and educated them on how certain forms of social media could work for them.
Not long after I started blogging on PR Open Mic and The Loveliest Village, I received e-mails from potential employers and others with helpful advice. Other members wanted to discuss my blogs and tell their opinions about a certain issue, which allowed me to see other points of view.
One of my favorite forms of social media is Utterz.com. Utterz is a way to do spot news interviews on your cell phone and have it go directly to your Utterz site once you hang up the phone. This way if an event happened on campus, I could be prepared and could pull out my cell phone for an interview and then use it later as audio for the campus news.
